Since mid-June 2023, there have been a number of international events that have significantly strengthened Russia’s strategic and economic cooperation.

The International Economic Forum was held in St. Petersburg from 14.6. to 17.6.23.

The forum hosted meetings with delegations from other countries, including UAE, China, India, Turkey, Myanmar, where global social, political, economic problems and trends were discussed and decisions were made (agreements were concluded) on the development of trade and economic ties.

The discussion was held at six international sessions: “Russia-China”, “Russia-India”, “Russia-OAE”, Russia-Latin America”, “Russia-Kyrgyzstan”, “EAEU-ASEAN”, as well as the leaders of African countries took part.

The second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum was held on July 27-28, 2023 in St. Petersburg. Official delegations from 48 countries participated. The spectrum of strategic and economic cooperation between Russia and African countries was defined.

The expansion of Russia’s alliance with other countries strategically and economically is carried out also through international organizations. In the summer of 2023 there was active work on the expansion of BRICS.

From August 22 to 24, 2023 the 15th BRICS summit was held, where Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were included in the BRICS. Full membership will come into effect on January 1, 2024
