S. Dragan:
And as all this comes together into a new scenario, by the 20th of July 2026, a very intense situation will start to emerge. It is quite possible that at this time we will witness not only hot political and military circumstances, but also likely some catastrophic natural events. The situation generally appears fire-prone, both in a literal and metaphorical sense.
In July 2026, as a result of catastrophic heatwaves (see confirmation from July 24, 2026), large-scale wildfires swept through Europe, affecting Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, and Turkey.
Some events and facts:
In Spain, the fires raged in Andalusia, Aragon, Castile-La Mancha, Castile and Leon, Catalonia. Residents of dozens of settlements were evacuated, with casualties reported. The most dangerous situation unfolded 100 kilometers from Madrid - in the province of Guadalajara, where a forest fire destroyed over 30,000 hectares of vegetation.
More than 1,000 fires have been recorded in Sicily. The Italian island is experiencing one of the most destructive waves of forest fires in its recent history.
In France, the most severe situation is in the southwest, in the Gironde department around the city of Bordeaux. The fire has destroyed over 90,000 hectares of land. A total of 220,000 people have been evacuated in France.
In Greece, the fire has destroyed two factories in Thessaloniki. Due to this, residents of the suburbs had to evacuate urgently, while others were told to stay home, tightly closing windows and doors because of the toxic smoke.
Fire has engulfed areas near popular tourist destinations in Turkey, including Antalya, Kemer, Alanya, as well as the Mugla province, home to renowned resorts like Fethiye, Bodrum, and Marmaris.
According to European monitoring services, by the end of July, over 430,000 hectares of forests and agricultural land had burned in EU countries, and the number of evacuated people exceeded half a million.
