Since January 3, 2026, Delcy Rodriguez has been serving as the interim President of Venezuela.
The country's Supreme Court made the decision, citing the "material and temporal impossibility" for Maduro to perform presidential duties after his capture by US armed forces.
April 4, 2026 marked the end of Rodriguez's initial 90-day interim presidency. Due to the absence of an official National Assembly decision to extend her term, Rodriguez's status remains de facto, but is legally contentious.

He also noted that there is a range of cooperation between the US and the interim authorities in Caracas, which are not publicly advertised but are "very positive" in nature.
