Macron's political finish
Forecast: "Summer 2025 - end of Spring 2026. Most pronounced periods of the foreseeable geopolitical future" (published on May 28, 2025, link)
S. Dragun:
After 09.21.25 ... some signal of the collapse of Western forces opposing Russia, in the person of Macron, as a barometer needle, will indicate helplessness and the prerequisites for the complete collapse of the former Western elite core. It is very possible that Macron will have difficulties with his current so-called allies...
...he (Macron) may face such strokes of fate, for example, in February 2026, after which it is very difficult to talk about any political or other prospects. Of course, there is no talk of his political outbursts taking at least a peaceful or reasonable form.
Much has been said about the political decline of Macron in the Confirmations of the second half of last year (October 3, November 8, 22, and December 15, 2025).
Understanding the end of his presidential term in France, E. Macron has been actively exploring paths for his future political career within the management structures of the European Union, including the possibility, after the creation of a euroarmy (if it happens), to become the European Union's defense minister.
Ideas for a euroarmy by E. Macron were expressed several years ago.
Now, he is taking steps that are fundamentally different from what he has done before. Above all, this concerns relations with the Russian Federation. And it is precisely this «... in the person of Macron, as a barometer needle, indicates the helplessness and the premises for the complete collapse of the former Western elite core...».
The resolution of global world crises is impossible without Moscow. It seems that Paris is beginning to recognize this reality, said diplomat Konstantin Dolgov to the VZGLYAD newspaper. As predicted by S. Dragun, for the first time since 2022, a phone call between Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron took place in July 2025.
"Europe is gradually realizing that without Russia, global crises cannot be resolved. Moscow is a political power playing a significant role in many regions of the world. Moreover, unlike countries of the Old World, we have genuine respect from states in the Global South," said Konstantin Dolgov, Russia's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador.
"That is, Emmanuel Macron finally understood that stable peace cannot be built without Russia's influence. His call automatically signed him up for the failure of our country's supposed 'isolation.' That's why he dedicated a significant part of his conversation with Vladimir Putin to the Middle East (summer 2025). In the end, it was Moscow that managed to establish the closest ties with Iran," he said.
Perhaps, in this way, the French president was trying to understand Russia's view on how exactly stability in this region should be achieved (still last year). Meanwhile, Paris, along with London and Berlin, is one of Ukraine's key allies. And its 'hawkish' stance largely hinders regular contacts with Washington," experts noted.
And this trend - the "collapse of Western forces opposing Russia" - in the foreign policy activities of French President Emmanuel Macron has manifested itself with a certain periodicity at the end of last year.
And as S. Dragen predicted: "... that Macron has encountered difficulties, not only with his current, so-called fellow thinkers...".
On December 21, 2025, TASS (based on AFP information) reported that the French presidency is planning to determine a format for restoring dialogue with Russia.
At the beginning of this year, French President Macron spoke about holding working consultations aimed at organizing his possible negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
French leader Emmanuel Macron stated that technical discussions are underway in his country regarding the preparation of potential contacts with the Russian president, according to TASS. He noted, "Discussions are taking place at a technical level to prepare for this."
Macron previously did not rule out the possibility of dialogue with Russian leadership on issues related to the situation in Europe. Official sources did not specify the timing or format of future negotiations.
As expected: "... in February 2026 ... it's very difficult to talk about any political or other prospects (of Macron)."
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted the rudeness and contemptuous attitude of French President Emmanuel Macron towards Russia. Lavrov also called Macron's statements about being ready to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin a show for the public.
European leaders reacted with astonishment and outrage to President of France's calls to "engage with Russia." Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stated that now a phone call between European leaders and Vladimir Putin would be a misstep.
On February 15 of this year, it was reported that tensions between Berlin and Paris are escalating in a dispute over the US, rearmament, and strategic autonomy. Europe is splitting apart, the newspaper writes.
“This is perhaps the most symbolic scene at the current Munich Security Conference: when French President Emmanuel Macron joins a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Macron tries several times to greet Merz. But the chancellor does not respond, seemingly ignoring him,” the publication states.
In February, discontent and outrage over the policies of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, intensified both within and outside the country.
Macron, according to agricultural representatives, shows interest only in his 'small presidential show', ignoring critical agricultural issues. This was stated on February 21 by Tom Gibier, a representative of the Farmers' Union 'Peasants' Confederation'.
“We met with Macron a few weeks ago, and we saw that his only interest was to save his small presidential show, this traditional ceremony,” Gibier reported.
According to him, the president did not address important questions for farmers regarding sanitation policies, total slaughter, and farmers' income. That's why farmers took to protest actions, demanding urgent solutions to regulatory economic issues.
Relations between E. Macron and on the foreign policy front, particularly with the US President, have sharply deteriorated.
US leader reacted strongly on March 17, 2026, to Macron's refusal to support possible US military actions in the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "French President Emmanuel Macron will soon leave office" - and accordingly, there is nothing to discuss with him.
As Macron announced at the beginning of March, France will not participate in any operations to unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump emphasized that NATO, including France, did not pass the loyalty test in a critical moment for Washington.
E. Macron is receiving 'blows' not only on the political arena but also on the 'personal-family front'.
US President Donald Trump ridiculed the personal life of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron, saying that he is still recovering from a face slap from his spouse.
The American leader made the joke during a White House event, commenting on US-NATO relations in the context of the escalating situation around Iran.
In early April, French President Emmanuel Macron called on several world countries to unite against the US.
"Sharing this agenda with Korea, France, and drawing in a number of European countries, as well as Canada, Japan, India, Brazil, Australia, we can begin to shape a kind of third path (independent from the US. - Ed's note)," Macron said during a meeting with university students.
Macron added that countries should not be overly dependent on Washington or suffer in any way from its inconsistencies. He also stated that France does not want to be a vassal of the US or other powers (primarily China).
Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sarcastically commented on the French President's call. She noted that Macron included India, Canada, Australia, and Brazil in his category of "mid-sized states."
"Withdrawing from U.S. influence" is not just in Macron's words. An example of this is the return of France's entire gold reserve from across the ocean back to the country. However, according to experts, the president of France is not to be credited with this. The initiator and executor of this financial action were other beneficiaries, primarily the deputies of the National Assembly of France, not Macron.
The Bank of France sold 129 tons of gold for 12.8 billion euros, making a significant profit from the metal's price increase.
To be sure, this would not be special if it were not the final part of national reserves stored in the U.S. Federal Reserve System. Which the French regulator reported, as quoted by Radio France Internationale (RFI).
France's gold reserve currently stands at approximately 2437 tons - the fourth largest in the world. It is all stored in Paris. This includes 134 tons of old bars and coins, which the bank plans to bring up to standard by 2028.
France has completed the epic process of fully moving and removing its gold from the U.S. which it began in 2025. To be fair, France is not alone. Over a dozen countries have been quietly taking their gold out of the U.S. since 2024.
Now, the Germans are "up in arms" - Bundestag deputies outraged and frightened that their gold has been across the ocean for over 80 years.
According to experts, the key catalyst for a dozen countries undertaking such a costly logistical operation was America's own policy. They also noted a theory: this outflow of gold from American reserves is linked, among other things, to how Americans, like Europeans, have frozen Russia's reserves.
In essence, Europeans with frozen Russian assets have opened the "Pandora's Box" and found themselves at risk of similar actions from the US if bilateral relations escalate.
As S. Dragun predicted:
Of course, there is no point in saying that his (E. Macron's) political outbursts will take on even a peaceful or reasonable character... "Macron (will lose himself) and control, increasingly feeling blocks in his ability to influence the situation...
