S. Dragan:

However, even shortly before mid-July, specifically on July 13, 2026, ... there may be rather strange events related to water.

By the time S. Dragan mentioned, specifically by July 13, 2026, the number of natural disasters related to water had increased.

On July 12, severe weather disrupted power supplies in seven regions of Russia. The effects of the cyclone were recorded in Leningrad, Novgorod, Tver, Kaluga, Tula, Sverdlovsk, and Тюмен regions, the press service of the "Rosseti" group reported.

The northwest and central regions of Russia were hit by heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and winds up to 25 m/s. "Rosseti" clarified that due to the cyclone, the wind uprooted trees several meters tall and blew over advertising structures and house roofs.

To address the aftermath of the storm, energy companies are working around the clock. Over 200 brigades, approximately 600 specialists, and 250 units of specialized equipment have been deployed. Currently, energy facilities in the Sverdlovsk Oblast have been fully restored, and necessary measures are being completed in the Kaluga, Tula, and Tyumen Oblasts.

The most challenging situation persists in the Tver, Novgorod, and Leningrad Oblasts.

In the Leningrad Oblast, due to the storm, power was cut off for 42,500 people. Power supply has now been restored for over 20,000 residents.

In the Novgorod Oblast, mass power outages began yesterday due to heavy rains and strong winds. Over 14,000 residents in 10 districts were left without electricity.

On Sunday, July 12, Moscow was hit by a massive downpour. The capital was deluged.

The Moscow Department of Natural Resources reported that due to the storm, 50 trees fell in the city, with 11 of them crashing into cars. City services continue to document the aftermath of the storm.

The situation with storms, floods, and downpours hasn't been this severe in the first half of July, closer to the middle of the month.

Early July of this year reported that Storm Bavi intensified into a "super typhoon" and was approaching the islands of the Pacific Ocean. Residents of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands stocked up on food and bottled water.

On July 8, 2026, water-related disasters struck some regions of Russia:

  • Dagestan. Heavy rains with hail and strong winds. Due to rising water levels in the Koysu River, the main gas pipeline passing through the village of Maali was destroyed and flooded. A landslide on the 13th kilometer of the Gunib - Tsurib highway completely blocked traffic. A bridge collapsed in the village of Magar, and authorities closed the Tsurib - Archib route.
  • Kaliningrad Oblast. In the night of July 8, a powerful storm hit the region in the past 50 years. The storm hit the coast of Zelenogradsk the hardest, where waves washed away several cafes. In Kaliningrad itself, due to storm winds, trees fell, power lines were damaged, and traffic was disrupted on several streets.

Flood in Krasnoyarsk. On July 9, it was reported that several streets, including North-Yeniseyskaya, Bryanskaya, Railway Workers, Defense, and Kotelnikov Prospect, were flooded due to the sudden rise of the Kacha River.

Flooding in Tyumen's Waterfront. On July 9th, it was reported that due to heavy rainfall, the upper level of the Tyura River's waterfront, near the Multi-Center "Kontora Parakhodstva" building, went underwater.

From July 7th to 9th, a storm warning was in effect in Dagestan: heavy rains, downpours with thunderstorms, hail, and wind speeds reaching 20-23 meters per second. Meteorologists predicted small-scale landslides in the mountains and rising water levels on rivers to unfavorable levels.

Hurricane "Bernadette". In the night from July 7th to 8th, a hurricane with winds of 32-34 meters per second and waves reaching 5 meters struck Zelenogradsk. The sea washed away the eastern beach, swept away coastal cafes, toppled over a hundred trees, damaged residential buildings, and at least two cars.

As of noon (07:00 MSK - Ed.), according to the report by the Xinhua news agency, a total of 39 people have been killed due to flooding and the breach of the Liulang dam in Nanning, Guangxi Province.

Abnormal water heating in the UK. According to The Guardian, in July 2026, water temperatures in bodies of water averaged two degrees above normal, reaching four to five degrees in some areas.

As of July 10, 2026, a massive and destructive flood occurred in the Indian state of Gujarat. In just a few days, half of the annual rainfall norm was recorded, marking a 85-year record. Nine people lost their lives due to the disaster. It could take months to restore infrastructure, especially in Surat, the global diamond capital where roughly 90% of all diamonds are processed.

On July 11 of this year, a powerful thunderstorm hit the Sverdlovsk Oblast. Yekaterinburg was instantly submerged, with courtyards, streets, and everything else flooding. Waterfalls inside buildings. Power was cut off in various parts of the city after lightning struck a substation. Traffic ground to a halt, with trams coming to a stop. Regional roads were also flooded. The road to Nizhny Tagil was knee-deep in water. In some areas, the water was even deeper.

A collapse in the Khabarovsk Krai, roads were washed away, and over a dozen settlements were cut off.

Disaster recovery efforts are underway in Dagestan, where incessant rainfall has been ongoing for three days. Access to 50 populated points is only possible by air. In one such village, a helicopter from the medical evacuation service evacuated a man. In another village, a new dam prevented a disaster, holding back a raging torrent, even as the water level neared its maximum.

In central Russia, the very same two cyclones met: one from the Caspian Sea, the other from the Baltic. And this is what happened. The Ryazan and Voronezh regions were flooded, an earthquake swept through Kaluga, uprooting dozens of trees. In one area of the Moscow region, a tornado ripped off house roofs. All of this was accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rain. A shelter for animals was destroyed in Narofominsk.

Thunderstorms and winds reaching 20 meters per second on July 11th of this year in the capital. It will remain rainy at the beginning of next week (July 13th, 2026).

A cyclone with rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds hit Saint Petersburg. On July 11, 2026, the cyclone exceeded the monthly precipitation norm. The city's drainage system processed over 4 million cubic meters of water in a day, twice the norm.
