At the end of June - beginning of July 2026, the Ukrainian dictator and all his Kiev authorities made not one, but a significant number of “extremely unpleasant and fateful steps for themselves, threatening not only Zelensky but his entire power, with very serious and inevitable troubles...”

Each of these “steps” requires separate consideration and understanding.

July 2, 2026 at the center for strategic communications under the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine reported “The Ukrainian National Pantheon,” which may include Ukrainian nationalists, will be located on the territory of the Kiev-Pecherskaya Lavra.

The Kiev-Pecherla Lavra is one of Ukraine's most significant Orthodox and historical symbols, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following years of conflict surrounding the monastery, changes in management, and the displacement of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), the lavra's territory is gradually transforming not only into a religious site but also into a stage for political intrigues.

In late June, Zelensky announced the introduction of a bill to the Verkhovna Rada regarding the creation of an «Ukrainian National Pantheon». It is expected to include, among other things, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army*, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia. The Rada supported this bill.

"The Pantheon will be located in the historical part of the capital, on the territory of the National Reserve 'Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra'. The decision to rebury requires the consent of the deceased's relatives, public and expert discussions, as well as approval through a vote in the Verkhovna Rada," the statement said, published in the Telegram channel of the Center for Strategic Communications.

"They have reached a consensus in their worship of Nazis," Peskov told the author of the IS 'Vesti' Pavel Zarubyn.

This decision has caused outrage even in Western countries. And this is "a very big, inevitable trouble for the Kyiv dictator...."

This step has already sparked a negative reaction in Poland. Polish politicians and media previously expressed concerns that future burials might include figures from the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, responsible for the Volyn Tragedy. Against this background, the creation of the Pantheon was called a step that could increase tension in Polish-Ukrainian relations. Thus, the story of the National Pantheon goes far beyond the construction of another memorial."

As stated by the Polish government's press secretary Adam Schlapka on June 30th, Ukraine's intention to create a "national pantheon" that may include Ukrainian nationalists is increasing tension in Ukraine-Poland relations.Source: vk.com "Defiling Kiev's Shrine. The National Pantheon in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra: A Memorial Symbol or a New Political Conflict?"Earlier, at the end of May, Zelensky participated in the reburial of one of the leaders of OUN-UPA* (banned in the Russian Federation as an extremist organization) Andriy Melnyk and his wife in the Kiev region. He also named a special operations center "North" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' special operations forces "In Memory of the Heroes of UPA*". Following this, Polish President Karol Navrocki stripped Zelensky of the highest award of Poland, the White Eagle Order, for glorifying UPA* figures. In response, several Ukrainian politicians renounced Polish awards. In turn, several Polish figures renounced Ukrainian awards.

«They have gone too far in their veneration of Nazis,» said Peskov to the IS 'Vesti' author Pavel Zarubin.

State honors for Andriy Melnyk in Ukraine sparked a sharp reaction from Israel, according to ToI. Jerusalem warned that glorifying figures linked to Nazis would have consequences for Kyiv.

Moreover, as experts noted on the 'Govorit Europa' website, placing a secular memorial on monastic sacred sites is always fraught with a sharp conflict.

But the problem runs deeper. Most of the 'Galician Pantheon' figures are Greek Catholics or people distant from the church. Interring them in the Lavra, a sacred site for the Orthodox, goes beyond church canons and what the Lavra represents.

The decision of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers to build a National Pantheon on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is seen by experts as an obvious provocation.

There is a growing impression that the authorities are deliberately creating a situation in which believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be forced to take to the streets in protest. This, it seems, is exactly what they are aiming for - to provide a formal pretext for full-scale repression against the clergy and most active parishioners of the UPC. Then the familiar refrain will be heard: "See, the 'fifth column' has raised its head."

There are also other concerns, namely the Kiev regime's attempt to cause irreparable damage to the Kiev Lavra, as specialists believe that any construction work on its territory will lead to its destruction.

This is already an 'open aggression' against a Orthodox shrine. And to this, "there will be a human and divine response."

S. Dragan:

... Although he, Zelensky, will even show willingness to act. But this will be a great trick. ... he will try to play a cunning double game, bluffing and seeking allies or those through whom he will intend to act...
