For D. Trump, the beginning of November 2026 (“shortly before this date—before November 8, 2026”) was marked by a whole series of serious problems and troubles.
Before November 3, 2026, that is, before the start of the midterm elections, all of this was connected with attacks against D. Trump and the creation among American voters of an opinion that the U.S. president was to blame for the existing and increasingly worsening financial and economic problems.
The Democrats attempted to prevent the positive impact on this situation, namely on gas station prices, resulting from the “diesel deal.”
The Democratic Party is demanding that major banks and ports retain all documents related to potential imports or other deals with Russia, the American outlet Axios reports.
Congressman Jamie Raskin threatened oil companies with litigation, a congressional investigation, and fines of up to one million dollars. He was supported by Senators Chris Coons of Delaware, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Ron Wyden of Oregon, and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island.
In a letter to the American Petroleum Institute, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, Raskin warned that purchasers of Russian fuel face prison sentences of up to 20 years.
Strikes against the “diesel deal” are being carried out not only within the United States, but also on the international stage—through renewed strikes on oil refineries by the Kyiv regime in late October 2026. At the same time, a media blow is also being dealt to D. Trump himself, demonstrating complete disregard for his opinion.

Meanwhile, Russian presidential aide and chairman of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev warned on October 30, 2026, of possible sabotage against tankers involved in the diesel deal. He clarified that Britain and NATO could undertake the organization of provocations.

Kpler analyst Matt Smith suggested that the vessel could also change its route because of concerns among American buyers related to sanctions and legislative restrictions.
But the situation with the tankers became clear very quickly.
Tankers carrying Russian diesel fuel sent to the United States as part of the deal continue to follow their previous routes. This was stated by Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, refuting a publication by the British newspaper Financial Times.
“Fake. The tankers heading to the United States continue on their course. Why is there so much fake news in the FT?” the head of the RDIF wrote on the social network X.
But the main blow, as the Democrats and other forces supporting them loudly declared, namely “a knockout for D. Trump,” occurred on the day of the midterm elections—November 3, 2026.
The metaphor “knockout” is used here to describe the scale of the defeat. Republicans lost their majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives, depriving the Trump administration of the ability to advance its legislative agenda.
